Pulsed light treatment can improve many of the symptoms of aging:
- Superficial component: visible improvement in complexion, reduction or even erasing of spots, redness and visible dilated vessels
- A deeper component, remodeling: the thermal action of Intense Pulsed Light stimulates collagen, improves skin texture and smoothes fine lines in a non-aggressive way.
After each gradual treatment, your skin will be firmer and smoother, more toned, more luminous and its color more harmonious.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a safe way to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. It can "erase" some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure - known as photoaging.
Intense Pulsed Light is a therapy used to treat wrinkles, brown spots and remove unwanted hair.
You can use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to reduce or remove most :
- age spots and sun damage
- freckles
- moderate rosacea
- acne marks and scars
- fine scars
- fine lines
- unwanted facial and body hair
After an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, your complexion will be more even and you'll look younger.
How does it work?
IPL light is more diffused and less focused than laser light. IPL penetrates to the second layer of the skin (dermis) without damaging the top layer (epidermis), causing less damage to the skin.
Pigment cells in the skin absorb light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment. Spots are erased. In the same way, hair pigments absorb heat to the point of destroying the mature hair follicle. The hair no longer grows back.
What's the difference between IPL and Laser?
Pulsed Light treatment is similar to laser treatment. However, a laser focuses a single wavelength of light on your skin, while IPL uses light to release waves of different lengths onto the skin, like a photo flash. Unlike laser treatment, IPL is never invasive.
Preparing your session
Before any session and at least 10 days before, it is recommended to avoid
- exposure to the sun (tanning sessions)
- tanning booths
- hair removal in the targeted area
- chemical peels
- collagen injections
- taking medications that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin (Ecotrin) and ibuprofen (Advil)
- creams or other products containing vitamin A, such as Retin-A or glycolic acid
Frequency
A photo rejuvenation session, depending on the size of the area treated, lasts from 20 to 30 minutes.
Depending on the desired result, three to six sessions are required, spaced an average of 3 to 4 weeks apart.
The hair removal session lasts 20 to 30 minutes per area. You should envisage 8 to 12 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Note that a thigh represents two areas on average, and that the time required per session should be multiplied by two.
We use a new-generation device that treats all skin phototypes and tanned skin (but never sunburned skin).
After a session
You should be able to resume your usual activities. The treated area will be red and sensitive for a few hours, as if you had a sunburn. Your skin may also be slightly swollen. It will remain sensitive for a few days after the procedure. You should avoid using hot water until your skin has healed.
